Larry McFarland has spent more than 25 years in clinical practice.
Along the way he has accumulated a broad range of clinical experience
and a profound respect for the struggles and buoyancies that
clients possess and bring with them to therapy.
Larry works
principally with adults, youth & children (over 8 years old), and families. He has specialized
experience in cognitive therapy for depression and anxiety (including
bereavement), in anger and aggression control, couples counseling, sexuality issues, and in individual and family
treatment of substance abuse (or other compulsive behaviors), ADHD or Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
In the Monadnock area, Larry previously worked as a regional director
for Familystrength, as a clinician at Monadnock Family Services, and as
clinical director at Youth Services in Brattleboro.
A native Tennessean, Larry graduated from college with a double major in
religion and music. He entered the University of Maryland's graduate
school on a full academic scholarship and in 1987 received his master’s degree in Community Counseling.
He later earned a post-master's
certificate in Marriage & Family Therapy from Virginia Tech, and
since 1995 he
has supervised clinical interns from Antioch University.
