Lily Myers,
MA, LCMHC
Senior Staff Therapist

Lily Myers is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who works in MAPS' Peterborough and Keene offices. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University. She also has advanced training from the Gestalt Institute of New England and the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Lily enjoys working with adults, couples, and groups. She specializes in mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, grief and loss, work and life transitions, chronic pain, and stress management. With groups, she specializes in mindfulness-based interventions for stress, anxiety, depression, and compulsive eating.

Lily brings a rich diversity of professional experience to her current counseling role.  In the past, she has worked as a psychotherapist, a Hospice bereavement counselor, a career counselor, a corporate human relations trainer, and a yoga and meditation instructor. In 1989, she interned with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s Stress Reduction and Relaxation Program. Since then, she has taught Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction workshops in medical settings in Peterborough, Keene, and Nashua. Prior to joining MAPS in 2007, Lily worked in the adult outpatient program at Monadnock Family Services, where she counseled adults and ran therapy groups on Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for mood management.

Lily uses a variety of therapeutic approaches to help her clients navigate through difficult life transitions, build self-esteem, become more assertive, handle relationships more effectively, make peace with the past, and be more alive and creative in their work and their lives.  These approaches include helping her clients explore and understand emotional and cognitive patterns that are contributing to unhappiness and/or dysfunction, as well as integrating mindfulness and psychotherapy.  Lily works with her clients in a collaborative way to bring awareness to negative self-judgments and outdated belief systems.  She believes strongly in the inner wisdom and unique creativity of each person, and in the need to cultivate compassion towards oneself and others.
